Welcome to my Communication Skills Questionnaire. Check out this excerpt from the training video I did for the New York City Department of Education. The workbook starts with my Communication Skills Questionnaire. This questionnaire gives students a chance to check off which skills they'd like to work on. And it lets teachers and speech therapists and counselors get an idea of really where the student feels he or she is struggling, and what they'd like to focus on. It also enlighten students as to what kinds of skills they could work on. Thanks for reviewing my description of my Communication Skills Questionnaire. Communication Skills Questionnaire
Motivated students tend to be successful learners; it's therefore vital to determine which skills are most important to students and in which aspects of communication they believe they need the most help.
This questionnaire allows students to establish which skills they would like to focus most on in such categories as: Conflicts (e.g., handling misunderstandings), Conversational Skills (e.g., maintaining and effectively shifting eye contact), Dating (e.g., asking someone out), Practical Skills (e.g., ordering food in a restaurant), and Non-Verbal (e.g., understanding personal space). It allows educators, speech-language pathologists, and therapists to better understand which skills are higher priorities to individual learners and provides insight into skills their students feel they need the most assistance with. Simultaneously, the questionnaire helps increase students' self-awareness while providing them with contextual information regarding the options of skills on which they can focus.
